Multi level marketing, or commonly called as MLM, is a new and unique way of marketing and earn some good money by way of commission and incentives. This is a sort of Network Marketing. The number of people working in a group or the commission and the incentive may differ from company to company. But the basic modality of the work pattern is more or less is the same.

The entry level to MLM job is that of a Sales Representative or called as a Distributor. Here the person approach people and sell the products, of the company in which he is enrolled, at a higher price than it is supplied to him by the company. The option is to recruit a team of four or five under him so that the instead of one approach to people to sell the products now five or six people are doing the job. With the increased sales the Sales representative will earn a handsome commission, and on achieving the 'target' given to him in a given period, and a good incentive as well. Once the team members has learned the ropes of the trade, then each one of the team member can recruit another team under each of them. Then the first sales representative has more number of people working under him in two levels; the first and the second. Thus they are popularly called as Multi Level Marketing or MLM.

Besides the markup of the buying and selling price difference, the sales representative will earn a percentage of the commission earned by the 'downlines' under him. The earning amount and opportunity goes up if there is a robust team of downline who are active and bringing in more sales. There is a good commission to be earned as prorate of the sales made at different levels under him. But for this he should ensure that there is an empower network of 'downline' who are active and bringing in good business day after day.

The challenge of MLM companies is to achieve a middle path between too much commissions which will erode the working capital, or too less commission results in a disinterested team and becoming 'sleepers' (without activity of sales). Early entrants in this marketing have made a good 'downline' under them and earning some good commissions as well. Then there is good bonus also when one completes the 'targets' of various levels. For hardworking persons there is enough earning opportunities in Multi Level Marketing.
